Home away from home
Published by O-CO under on 05:10Its hard to write when nothing exciting happens over here, other than going out to clubs and getting messed up and chillin with random Chinese in VIP rooms and shit. That gets old though and I dont want to be redundant. I was out the other night with some people and again they left before me so I chilled with some people I met who could barely speak English. At one point one of the dudes leaned over to me and said 'if you like a girl in this club I will give her to you'. I laughed and said 'oh yea, anyone?'. He said most were working girls and he would cover me for the night. I said I wasnt in to paying for sex but I appreciated the offer. He laughed and said 'next time she will find you'. God dammit! So next time Ill be in the club and some bangin girl will come up and want to go home with me and it will be because he paid her to. Sometimes you just cant win. But I guess what I dont know cant hurt me. We will see. It seems that when I go out and wind up by myself with random Chinese people I meet pretty important guys or ballers as I like to call them. I wish I knew the real story about a lot of them though, Im sure some are pretty bad people and probably done some pretty bad shit. They are nice as hell to me though so fuck it. If they offer me a job Ill have to consider it. I can be the big scary American body guard for the boss or some shit.
I feel like Im starting to settle down here in Guilin, which is probably good for my health and my wallet. I dont feel like going out every night and partying till 4am like Ive been doing. I guess it was because I was new here and its soo different and awesome going out and being treated so well all the time. Spoiling for sure. Everything is becoming familiar now and its like a home away from home. When I go online and look at my friends pics from back home everyone looks soo white and distant to me now. Someone had a couple US dollar bills the other day and I was like "whoa those things look weird". I havent seen them in about a month, which isnt that long, but they looked strange to me anyway. I miss cycling though and I feel a lot less healthy over here. I smoke ciggs again which sucks but they are soo cheap here, like 75 cents a pack. I started again because Ive been drinking and partying a lot lately and every guy smokes here so its hard to get away from. I miss making fresh fruit smoothies every morning for breakfast as well. I could do it here, but for some reason I dont, call it laziness I guess. My teaching schedule keeps me pretty busy most of the time, so when Im off and away from school I dont want to do shit except party, travel, or hang out with friends. I need to get some sort of exercise going soon though, Im not going to start gaining back weight. I should probably buy a scale soon too. Its a good thing my apt is on the 5th floor though with no elevator so I walk up and down madd stairs everyday and I also walk about a mile to work as well. My clothes are starting to get stains that I cant get out because the washing machine here blows and I cant find a good stain remover. I have been shopping for clothes and a jacket since I been here but the Chinese style is pretty whack. They dont really know how to match and coordinate like we do back home. My shirt size in America is a medium and here its an xxxL, so its hard to find that size sometimes. Chinese people are small. I found one shoe that fit me that I liked, but it was converse and they wanted a lot of money for it, F that! I aint paying madd doe for some stupid converse kicks. I hear I will have to go to a bigger city to find more my style clothes or just bring mine to a tailor and see if he can copy them for me. This seems like a pretty good idea so I might check it out soon.
Today I started a new class of 3 yr olds. I have 9 students and 2 of them cried and didnt want to leave their parents today, it was funny. I have a Chinese teacher in the classroom translating for me so its pretty easy. We just learn some numbers and colors, draw and color some shit, and then play a game, simple. I also have another new class tomorrow with 3 yr olds as well, but they never had any English before at all. Should be interesting. Im definitely not going to be a teacher for a long time, Ill tell you that. Its kinda a pain in the ass, but its also kinda easy. Have to take it with a grain of salt and not think or try too hard at it over here, because it will drive you crazy.
You can buy DVDs and computer software thats been pirated over here cheap as shit. I bought 3 brand new DVDs for less than 5 bucks and I hear I can get Microsoft Office for like 10 bucks. Thats sick. Ill be picking up mad software and movies while Im here for sure. Maybe even some fake Nike shit or a fake Northface jacket that fooled me when I checked it out for 30 bucks. China the land of copycats. They really are pro's at that shit.
Not sure whats in store for tonight(Saturday), but I have to work at 9am tomorrow morning so I hope I dont wind up all jacked up stumbling to my bed at 5am. Please God.
